Sarah + Clint | New Year’s Eve Wedding at Mt. Washington Mill Dye House

January 3, 2019 Sarah + Clint | New Year’s Eve Wedding at Mt. Washington Mill Dye House

This year, we rang in the New Year with Sarah and Clint’s Mt. Washington Mill Dye House wedding! I can’t imagine a better way to kick off a new year and wrap up our 2018 wedding season. Highlights on the blog today!

The Couple

From the couple: “On NYE (Dec 2011) – we both ended up at Lyon Hall (Arlington, VA) after both our plans had shifted unexpectedly.  Sarah was sitting at the bar with a friend and Clint was with friends including 2 of his now groomsmen.  Clint saw Sarah at the bar and one of his other friends was talking to her but Clint didn’t like that so he (gently) pushed him out of the way to talk with Sarah himself.  We’ve been together since that night.

“On November 3rd, 2017, Clint proposed in a small hidden park in Eastport (where we now live in Annapolis, MD).  Under the bench, there is a community journal that Sarah and Clint had read and written in on walks before. Clint brought Sarah to the park and had written in the book in advance asking her to marry him.  Much to her surprise, he had already gotten “permission” from her parents and sister by writing them a 2-page letter including 2 playing cards – an Ace of diamonds and a joker.  His request was that if they “approved” they should send back the Ace and if not, the joker.  Luckily, Sarah’s family sent back the Ace and Clint which Clint used to bookmark the page where he asked Sarah to marry him. 7 years after meeting (to the day) we are getting married.” [Sarah and Clint took me to the very spot where he proposed as a part of their engagement session this past spring!]

The Wedding

I have been so excited to be a part of Sarah and Clint’s wedding since we first started talking over a year ago. They are some of the sweetest, kindest, easy to talk to people I’ve ever met. Our second meeting (first was over FaceTime) was over drinks at Linwoods after their wedding tasting and we talked for hours. Their engagement session was no different. They have a way of making everyone feel seen, heard, and comfortable. It’s a beautiful gift to have.

I couldn’t think of a better way to ring in the new year than photographing a wedding for two amazing people, with my boyfriend and best friend in tow. Sarah and Clint’s wedding felt just like them. Warm, sweet, and full of love. Because 2018 was the rainiest year on the books, of course the last day of the year ended up being a rainy one too… which ended up leading to some of my favorite portraits of the night year. Here are some of our favorites…

Wow, wow, wow! Such a beautiful New Years Eve wedding! Sarah is stunning, and I love her dress! So many gorgeous portraits!! Especially love all the rain shots! The rustic elegance of the Mt Washington Mill Dye House was the perfect setting for their Baltimore wedding and reception! Such a beautiful way to end 2018 and start 2019!!
