Karen + Thom | American Visionary Art Museum Wedding

October 3, 2013 Karen + Thom | American Visionary Art Museum Wedding

Karen and Thom are awesome. No, they’re the best. The bestest even. I knew their wedding day was going to be fun but I had no idea just how much fun! From the moment I first met these two they won me over with their wonderful personalities and their big hearts. From our first meeting which felt much more like hanging out with old friends than talking business, to their engagement session where I spent most of the evening with them and we went out on our first “date” — I have really gotten to love Karen + Thom and I was SO excited for their wedding day! Prior to their wedding I had met Karen’s mom Dorothy, who is the sweetest woman I’ve ever met and Thom’s twin brother Matt, who is just as hysterical as he is! I knew I was in for a treat. The rest of their friends and family are just as awesome and it made for an amazing day!

HUGE thanks to Jennifer for being an amazing second as always!

I started the day off with Karen and the girls at AVAM while she got ready.

I love this venue! There are so many fun spots to shoot and I loved taking advantage of it.

Thom and Karen’s invitations and Save the Dates are a perfect small peek into their awesome lives. How cute are these!? I love the little Karen and Thom illustrations on the Save the Date, Invite, and Programs!

Karen’s new setting is amazing! You may remember from their engagement session that it was in a temporary setting at the time until they could go together and pick out the permanent home for the diamond. I LOVE this setting! I’ve never seen anything like it.

Karen was calm and full of joy all morning!

While Karen was finishing up her bridal prep, the guys were coordinating the first look time via walkie talkie. Matt, Thom’s brother, had designated himself “Rubber Ducky” which lead to all of the girls singing “Rubber Ducky you’re the one” to him over the radio. Did  I mention that their wedding day was a lot of fun?

Then it was time for their first look!

We got some photos of the bride and groom and bridal party at AVAM before we headed up to Federal Hill for some more! These two are so naturally happy and adorable together, they make my job easy!

Check out that handsome groom! These are the only serious ones we got of him ;) I’ll keep the goofy ones for their private album.

Karen seriously made the most beautiful bride. I love everything from how she wore her hair, to her headband, to that amazing dress, and most importantly how she wears her happiness! She’s just glowing with love and excitement!

LOVE these!!

When we got up to Federal Hill there were some storm clouds in the sky– it didn’t rain a drop but it did make for some epic photos!

Their “bridal team” was such an awesome group!

This took several attempts but I think this one turned out pretty good! This is what we call “groomsmen levitating”.

Did I mention that we had a fun group?

After all of that awesomeness it was time to get married! I love that they changed it up a bit from the norm for getting married outside at AVAM. Thom and Karen love the galaxy egg art piece and wanted to get married right in front of it!

Thom impatiently awaiting the ceremony to start…

Charis, the flower girl/ring bearer, had the rings attached to her bouquet as well as a little handwritten note for Thom from Karen.

Haha I love that these two made me an active participant in their ceremony, showing me the rings and locking eyes with me/my camera many times ;)

The reception setup was so pretty! I love the Chinese lanterns and centerpieces!

Their reception was too much fun! Pixilated Photobooth was there and the photobooth was an absolute hit! There was a line all night!

Karen + Thom- You guys are the best! I’m so sorry I had to decline our second date but I promise it won’t happen again ;) I wish you all the happiness in the world and I am so happy that I’ve had the chance to get to know you and be a part of your big day!

xoxo,
Brea

I can tell how much you adore these two. I remember them from their engagement session and I just remember how much you hearted them then, I knew you would be rocking their wedding. Beautiful shots as always. I like the ceremony set up, haven’t seen it done there before, great spot for it. Your overhead shot of it is awesome. Love the goofy faces collage and the party looks like it was so awesome!

What a fun, happy and beautiful couple, wedding and wedding day!! If you missed the engagement session check it out here… http://www.bybrea.dev/blog/2013/05/karen-thom-patterson-park-fells-point-engagement-session/ Seriously, isn’t this couple adorable! Karen just glows with her happiness and love. Thom’s excitement, happiness and love shine through in the images that capture their special day. Some of my favorite pictures are the hanging dress shot.. because isn’t that dress just stunning?!… Their first look, adorable! Thom by the ivy wall. Karen by the ivy wall. Karen on Federal Hill with those dramatic clouds… WOW!!… Karen is stunning, absolutely beautiful!! The black and white of Thom kissing Karen. Karen with the bridesmaids by the ivy wall. I love the flower girl/ring bearer with note for groom… and that Thom sneaked up to Brea to get a picture of the note!! The overhead shots overlooking the ceremony are great! The whole day captured beautifully! Congratulations Karen & Thom!!
