Wedding FAQ

What’s your turnaround time?

My turnaround time is very quick. For weddings, you’ll get a blog post the following week with about 50-100 images, and the full gallery within 2-3 weeks of the wedding. Portrait session galleries are typically delivered within a week of the session.

Why is an engagement session important?

There are so many reasons that an engagement session is important, but the biggest one for me is that we get to hang out for a few hours and get to know each other better. The more comfortable we are together, the more you’ll be able to open up in front of the camera on the wedding day. I’ll be able to capture you as you truly are and get those genuine real moments. I find that I’m creatively at my best when I’m emotionally invested in my couples – which is why most of my wedding collections include an engagement session. I want to be like an old friend by the time the wedding comes around, so I can capture you in a way that only someone who knows and cares about you can. The engagement session is also a dry run so you guys can get comfortable being photographed and being posed. Having romantic portraits taken is a very strange thing for most couples – and getting that practice in is a huge help for feeling more comfortable on the wedding day and being able to make the best use of the short time we have for photos of just the two of you.

Where should we do our engagement session?

This is entirely up to you! I have tons of locations that I can recommend but I love it when my couples choose locations that are special to them. It makes the photos even more meaningful. I have also traveled all over for these – so nothing is off limits!

Do you photograph same-sex weddings?

I absolutely do! I have had the honor of photographing several same sex weddings since 2013 and all of them have been filled with so much love and emotion! Photography by Brea is definitely LGBT friendly, and I would love to work with you!

Do you offer collections with a second photographer?

Absolutely! A second photographer can be added to any collection and I’m happy to talk with you and give you the honest take on what makes the most sense for your wedding. For most weddings with multiple locations for the day, I recommend a second photographer. When everything is in one place, it’s more of a ‘nice to have’ than a ‘must have’. When I don’t have a second photographer with me, I bring a non-shooting assistant to help me with lighting, managing the timeline, etc. Either way, I have an awesome team with me!

Do you have backup gear?

Absolutely. I firmly believe in having backup gear. You never know what will happen and it could always happen at the wrong moment, which is why I always bring two professional camera bodies ready to go to each and every wedding as well as multiple lenses. My main camera records to two cards at once so there’s also a backup on the spot of each image.

Do you also offer wedding albums?

Yes! Having a tangible keepsake from your wedding day is the best way to preserve those memories for future generations and decades to come. My parents’ wedding album is even more valuable to me than it is to them, and that value will only go up with time. On their wedding day, the only other person present was my Uncle Tom. He has since passed away, and those photos mean more to me now than I could ever express. The way it captures not only everyone’s excitement and happiness, but also the relationship that the three of them had is irreplaceable. As the documentarian for your wedding day, I’d love to provide you with your first family heirloom. The wedding album is the best way to preserve those memories for the ones who care about you most. Technology is constantly changing, but a book will always have its place.

Do you travel?

100% yes! I have tons of couples that aren’t local to Maryland, and I travel all over to serve them! I’ve photographed in Maryland, DC, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, North Dakota, Massachusetts, Vermont, North Carolina, Mexico and Jamaica. I travel not just for weddings but also for portrait sessions. I’ve photographed several destination weddings and I was even a destination bride myself (Maui, Hawaii!) Who better to capture your destination wedding than someone who has been there and done that?

Are the images edited?

All images are edited for basic exposure and color correction. Basic retouching is also included. Extensive retouching is billed at an hourly rate, on request.
