Matt + Shannon | Steppingstone Farm Museum Wedding

May 26, 2015 Matt + Shannon | Steppingstone Farm Museum Wedding

How do you even write about friends like Matt and Shannon? Matt and I have been friends for many years. As a matter of fact, I shot my first wedding with him, probably 7 or 8 years ago, for his cousin. I had no idea what I was doing. I had a Canon Rebel XT, we used lenses he borrowed from school, and he taught me how to shoot manual minutes before we had to start. I maybe got 2 or 3 good shots. But it was a blast. He’s always been a good friend – though over the years, there have been phases where we talk more often than others. We met working at the Apple store 8 years ago, where the entire staff was more like family than coworkers. Over the years, even after leaving the job that united us, we’ve stayed in touch. A little less than a year ago, Matt reached out to me to let me know that he and Shannon were getting married, and that they wanted me to photograph the wedding. I had yet to meet her, but from what I could tell from the photos I had seen on Facebook, she brought out a happiness in Matt I had never seen before. I couldn’t wait to meet her, and when I did, she exceeded my very high expectations. Shannon is the sweetest person and makes an incredible first impression. She’s also hilarious and delightfully nerdy and I can see exactly why she’s the perfect fit for Matt. In the months following their engagement, and working together for wedding related things, I’m happy to say that Shannon has also become a great friend – and they’re both stuck with me!

Photographing a wedding for a friend just doesn’t feel like work. It’s the biggest honor, and I absolutely loved spending my day by their sides, to witness their love and the beginning of their forever. I love you guys and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for you!

Here are some of my favorites and a little peek into their big day! There are a ton of photos here – everything was incredibly beautiful. The Steppingstone Farm Museum was the perfect backdrop for their love!
