New Year, New Beginning

January 13, 2015 New Year, New Beginning

Hey friends!

It’s been a quiet couple of weeks on the blog, and I apologize for that! But in all honesty, it’s been nice to take a little break from work and unwind after a busy year. I was spoiled with a good amount of time off with Steve around the holidays and we really soaked it in, enjoying each other’s company and spending lots of quality time together! Also, starting at the beginning of January, I picked up a new class teaching part time at Sheffield, so I’ve been focusing on my role as an educator for the last few weeks. The timing for this class is perfect as it gets me through the slow season and ends right before my first wedding of ‘peak’ wedding season in March. I also just got back from Disney World with my momma! Her first visit to WDW and our first Mother-Daughter trip EVER! It was such a blast :) This month has been awesome so far!

As a self-employed work-a-holic who loves her job, I struggle with the work-life balance thing during busy season. This year that’s one of my major goals. It’s so hard to not respond to an email on a “day off” because it’s just one email. But just one email somehow always turns into hours on the computer and while my to do list gets shorter, the pile of dirty dishes gets bigger, the dryer runs a third time, and I go yet another day without working out and ordering delivery.

This year I will make it a priority to:
• Actually set office hours and stick to them.
• Eat at home more often.
• Continue my yoga practice and add in additional workout programs.
• Spend more quality time with the ones I love.
• As a whole, focus on being more present in my personal life.

2014 was truly amazing and I feel so fortunate to have such a beautiful life and fulfilling career. I’m so excited that I already have over 30 weddings booked for 2015 and I can focus on creating the best experience possible for those that I’m already working with this year!

This Saturday I already have my first wedding of 2015 and I’m so excited to watch Dorinda and David say their “I Do’s” and join their beautiful families! There’s so much good stuff on the horizon! Stay tuned!

Such valuable goals, Brea. I have been working on centering more and really living in the moment and enjoying what I am doing at each time and most importantly, the people (and cats and dogs!) that I am with. It sounds like that is one of your goals too. It is so important and something we neglect so often. I love that each new year gives us the opportunity to reevaluate, reflect, and revise :)

So glad you got to enjoy some downtime for the holidays! Can’t wait to see everything you’ll do this year! I’m redefining my priorities too and I enjoyed seeing some of the same things on your list. :)
